Here is a picture of our family boats. They provide us with many hours of enjoyment on Long Island Sound and Block Island ("One of the last great places in the Western Hemisphere") and Mystic, CT.

The larger boat is a 1989 35 ft Egg Harbor Sportfisherman.  The Egg is a great boat, sleeps 5 easily, has nice accommodations, and is very fishable. On the down side, the boat was powered with twin 454 (340 hp) Mercruisers. At 17 knots we burn 30 gph and at 21 knots it jumps to 40 gph. The ride is smooooothhhh, however.  After a couple of seasons of poor fuel economy and limited range, we decided to repower with Yanmar diesels.  We chose the 6LP-STE 300 hp model because they were almost an exact size and weight replacement for the Mercruisers.  We now cruise at 23 knots and burn 15 gph with a top speed of 30 knots and 20 gph.  With a full 400 gallon load, we now have a theoretical range of 450 miles.  We are looking forward to many happy boating hours with Florida.

And here is another addition to our fleet, a Scout 202 Sportfish. Ours has no T-top and is powered with a 150 hp EFI Yamaha. The Scout is also a great boat. It offers a smooth, fast and dry ride. The 92 gallon fuel tank gives us a tremendous range or just many days of fishing. The boat is fast (that's all I'll say in case my insurance people are listening :-) Fuel consumption is in the 8 to 10 gph range. Look for Off the Hook II around Long and Block Island Sound.
