Fourth of July
July 4 is a big deal on Block Island. There is a parade through the town, the Fire Station has a dinner and there is a bathing suit contest of the beach. Fire works are seen at evening. Kids are always welcome to join into the parade or at least chase after the candy that is thrown.
The parade activities are supported by the town and the Chamber of Commerce (BIchamber@BIRI.com; (401) 466-2982 Fax (401) 466-5286) which collect funds by selling the "Double Ender Celebration" mugs.
